  • Mark McLaughlin, CTA (Fellow) ATT TEP

    Mark McLaughlin is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He lectures on tax subjects, is the author of Tolley's Tax Essentials - Direct Tax and has contributed to Simon's Direct Tax Service, as well as the Finance Bill Handbook (Butterworths). Mark's work has also been published in Taxation, Tax Adviser, Tolley's Practical Tax, Tax Journal and Simon's Weekly Tax Intelligence.

    Mark gained a number of years' experience as Tax Manager in an expanding Manchester firm of Chartered Accountants, and has also managed regional offices of an international tax firm, a role that included the provision of technical support and advisory services to their network of UK offices.

    Since January 1998, Mark has been a consultant in his own tax practice, Mark McLaughlin Associates, which provides tax consultancy and support services to professional firms.

    Mark is a Co-Founder, Director and Technical Editor of Taxationweb Limited.

  • Sarah Laing,

    Sarah is a Chartered Tax Adviser. She has been writing professionally since joining CCH Editions in 1998 as a Senior Technical Editor, contributing to a range of highly regarded publications including the British Tax Reporter, Taxes - The Weekly Tax News, the Red & Green legislation volumes, Hardman's, International Tax Agreements and many others. She became Publishing Manager for the tax and accounting portfolio in 2001 and later went on to help run CCH Seminars (including ABG Courses and Conferences).

    Sarah originally worked for the Inland Revenue in Newbury and Swindon Tax Offices, before moving out into practice in 1991. She has worked for both small and Big 5 firms. She now works as a freelance author providing technical writing services for the tax and accountancy profession.
